50 Years Of The Gibson Les Paul by music author and guitar expert Tony Bacon is a superbly staged and succinct history of a classic model of electronic guitar produced by the legendary Les Paul and which was in the first place launched in 1952, going on to be favored by grand musicians all around the last half century. Photographs heighten and illustrate this landmark making something publicly available of the Gibson Les Paul’s creation, and it is prevalence in each decade to the innovative day. A detailed, informative, highly readable and welcome presentation, 50 Years Of The Gibson Les Paul is specially commended for the legions of Les Paul fans and electric guitar enthusiasts.

4A good starting point for the severe Les Paul afficianado!
By John I. Henker
Tony Bacon books are always top notch: stunning photos, exact descriptions and very well researched. This book is no exception. It is, nevertheless in my opinion, an magnificent overview of the widely known and esteemed Les Paul guitar—not a resource book. At 160 pages it does a very fine occupation of detailing how this legendary guitar has blossomed into SO a lot of dissimilar models over the last 50 plus years (up to 2001). Sticklers for details, however, will in all likelihood find it missing out in some areas (year by year pix and descriptions, for example), but then one would need a book twice as thick to serve as this kind of encyclopedia on the subject. I highly commend it as an introduction to Les Pauls, and it will in all likelihood be all that most guitarists want to recognise in regards to the subject. It would make a outstanding gift!
